• Sharing personal items such as towels and nail instruments with people who may be infected is another way of catching the disease.

The saltwater fishing tips discussed in this article have to do with using live bait for saltwater fishing. More specifically, it’s about fishing with minnows or small fish. Three of the most common live fish baits used in my area are finger mullet, mud minnows, and menhaden. I’ve used all three, and my top choice is definitely small mullet.

Finger mullet aren’t always available. Sometimes you can find them at bait shops, and sometimes you can catch your own with a cast net. The best places to catch your own finger mullet are often from a pier or from the banks of a tidal creek. Many anglers hook their finger mullet in the back, but from my experience, hooking them through the lips works better. Actually, I don’t hook them through the soft part of the lips. Instead, I hook them just a little past the lips for a more secure hold.

My second choice is the mud minnow. You can just about always find these at bait shops, and you can catch your own with a minnow trap. I’ve caught a lot of fish on mud minnows, but the fish I usually target don’t seem to hit them as readily as they will a finger mullet. Another problem with mud minnows is that some of the ones you get at bait shops are really small. Larger mud minnows work best.
